Vietnam

Vietnam is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia and is rich not only in the culture and history, but rich in tropical landscape and beautiful beaches. Visitors are enchanted by the scenes of paddy fields and lush green mountains or the city buzz of Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Coastlines have emerald green islands surrounded by azure waters, and whether you choose to relax in the private villa, on a beach or take a trip on a Junk Boat, there is something for every visitor to this lustrous land.

Ho Chi Minh – Ho Chi Minh City is a high-octane city of commerce and culture – From the finest of hotels to the cheapest of guesthouses, the classiest of restaurants to the tastiest of street stalls, the choicest of boutiques to the scrum of the markets, Ho Chi Minh is a city of energy and discovery.Wander through timeless alleys to incense-infused temples before negotiating chic designer malls beneath sleek 21st-century skyscrapers.

Northeast Vietnam – For most visitors, the northeast is all about Halong Bay. The sublime seascape at this World Heritage site is undoubtedly one of Vietnam’s most enchanting experiences. Halong Bay is geology gone wild – with hundreds and thousands of limestone pinnacles protruding from the waters. North of Halong Bay is the less-visited Bai Tu Long Bay, where nature’s spectacular show continues all the way to the Chinese border. To the south of Halong Bay is Cat Ba Island, a ‘lost world’ landscape with hiking, biking or just hanging around the order of the day.

Hue, Hoi An and Central Vietnam – The geographic heart of the nation, central Vietnam is packed with historical sights and cultural interest, and blessed with ravishing beaches and outstanding national parks. Marvel at Hue and its imperial citadel, royal tombs and excellent street food. Savour the unique heritage grace of riverside jewel Hoi An, and tour the military sites of the Demilitarised Zone. Danang is fast emerging as one of the nation’s most dynamic cities. Also emerging as a must-visit destination is the extraordinary Phong Nha region, home to three gargantuan cave systems (including the world’s largest cave), and a fascinating war history concealed amid stunning scenery. Enjoy well-earned downtime on the golden sands of An Bang beach or learn to cook central Vietnamese cuisine, the nation’s most complex.

Hanoi – Vietnam’s capital races to make up for time lost to the ravages of war and a government that as recently as the 1990s kept the outside world at bay. Its streets surge with scooters vying for right of way amid the din of constantly blaring horns, and all around layers of history reveal periods of French and Chinese occupation – offering a glimpse into the resilience of ambitious, proud Hanoians. Hanoi is undergoing a rapid transformation. You can dine on the wild and wonderful at every corner, sample market wares, uncover an evolving arts scene, then sleep soundly in a little luxury for very little cost.
