    Beaches in Santorini

    Much like the rest of Greece, you will find some beautiful beaches to enjoy in Santorini. However, many of these shores have volcanic black sands, creating a unique stay by the sea for many. The beaches here are also surrounded by breathtaking scenery and rugged landscapes. 

    Red Beach is a favoured spot, mainly due to its volcanic rocks that encompass the shore. This allows visitors to get a true sense of Santorini’s natural beauty, all whilst taking in the incredible coastal vistas. Spend your time here snorkelling, sunbathing or swimming in the crystal clear waters. It is also relatively easy to reach and has some excellent places to grab a bite to eat nearby, allowing visitors to enjoy the perfect day by the sea. 

    For a vibrant atmosphere, Perivolos is the place to be. Here you will find a shore made up of volcanic sand and pebbles. There are also some great facilities nearby, alongside watersports and plenty of eateries.

    Spend some time wandering through the picturesque streets of Oia, a wonderful place to catch a glimpse of Santorini’s magnificent sunset. For those looking to truly relax and unwind, a trip to one of the wineries on the island will do the trick. This is the perfect way to take in the breathtaking coastal views with a glass of wine in hand. 

    If you’re hoping to uncover some history, you will find plenty in Santorini. Places like Atlantis, Akrotiri Lighthouse, the Castle of Pyrgos, Skaros Rock and much more provide the perfect way to learn more about the island’s past. 

    There are also several opportunities to get out on the water in Santorini. Whether you’re looking to sail around the island or partake in the watersports on the beaches, you will find something for all when visiting here.  

    Eating and Drinking in Santorini

    Nightlife in Santorini

    Although Santorini mainly attracts honeymooners and couples, it also has plenty to offer in terms of its vibrant nightlife. There are some high-end clubs and bars across the island, the perfect place to dance and party your way through the evening. 

    Fira is known for being the best place in Santorini to enjoy an evening out. With clubs, bars and lounges, alongside an array of wines, cocktails and more, you will find plenty of options when choosing a night out here. 

    There are also some beautiful coastal bars in Fira. This provides the perfect place to watch as the sunsets, all whilst making the most of the drinks on offer alongside the beautiful surroundings. 

    When to Go to Santorini 

    Before booking your trip to Santorini, it’s first important to assess the best time to visit. When you choose to go here can affect several things during your stay. The weather, tourist crowds and more are all to consider. 

    Anytime between March and June or September to October are great times to visit. During these months, tourists can make the most of the warm weather in Santorini, all whilst avoiding the busy crowds that summer brings. Temperatures between March and June present average lows of 16°C and highs of 27°C. Whereas September and October usually display lows of 20°C and highs of 26°C.  

    July and August are known for being the hottest months in Santorini, with high temperatures averaging around 30°C. Summer also brings plenty of sunshine and blue skies. However, you will find that the island is much busier during this time. 

    From December to February, the temperatures in Santorini average around highs of 14°C, creating a much cooler climate. You will also discover that some of the tourist attractions are also closed as the island begins to quieten down for winter.
