St. Lucia is just 27 miles long and 14 miles wide, lined with beautiful palm-fringed beaches…and the beaches are just an introduction to St. Lucia! A mountainous island, St. Lucia is covered with an emerald blanket covering plunging valleys and rising peaks in lush rainforest. It’s a spectacular setting for adventure seekers. The most iconic and recognisable symbols of the island are the scenic wonders of the Piton Mountains which rise majestically from the Caribbean Sea in the south. We highly recommend a tour or sail down the coast to see the Pitons if you are staying in the north.

For adrenaline junkies there is mountain biking through the rainforest, zip-lining over it, or climbing a Piton. For a more relaxed adventure take a visit to a cocoa, sugar or banana plantation; indulge in some sailing on a luxury yacht from the Rodney Bay marina, or even drive into a volcano and see the sulphur springs.

Meeting the St. Lucian people is the icing on the cake when visiting this island. They are widely regarded as one of the most welcoming in the Caribbean. There is a vibrant mix of Carib, African, French and English culture and history which influences their day-to-day life and especially the cuisine on offer!

DINING, BARS AND NIGHTLIFE

The island has a distinctive local cuisine, which is a sumptuous mix of West Indian, Creole and French food, so be sure to try out the local dishes and if you have a chef let them spoil you with their delectable cooking. St. Lucia is a well-developed island and you will easily find a great array of dining choices. In the Rodney Bay area you will find plenty of options; whilst some of the luxury resorts, such as The Cliff at Cap Maison, offer fabulous oceanfront a la carte dining. Hotel Chocolat, located in the south, is worth a special mention as it has a great restaurant where every course contains chocolate (astonishingly delicious!).

The island loves to party, and does so every weekend, in spirited fashion out on the streets of several fishing villages. Try not to miss the Gros Islet Friday fish fry, or go bar-hopping in Rodney Bay and, if you are a night owl, make sure that Bar Delirious is one of your night-time stops!
