Known as “the land that time forgot,” the British Virgin Islands remains an undeveloped haven for natural treasures; you won’t find high-rise hotels, casinos or crowds here! It may take a little more effort to get there from the UK, but trust us, it’s worth the journey!

Situated between the deep waters of the Atlantic and the glittering Caribbean Sea, just east of Puerto Rico. Other nearby neighbours include the United States Virgin Islands, located to the immediate south west of the BVI. The BVI has become renowned as the homeland of Richard Branson’s private destination, Necker Island.

Most islands lay in a distinct formation flanked around the Sir Frances Drake Channel – including the main island of Tortola creating the backbone of the Channel, Virgin Gorda stretching to form the eastern border, Jost Van Dyke lingering in the west, Anegada dangling remotely north in the Atlantic and a series of smaller islands, including our featured Scrub Island, are speckled in the south.

The many coves and bays of the BVI’s offer breathtaking coral reefs just below the surface and at deep depths for snorkelers and divers of all levels. There is world class sailing conditions and the destination is known as the sailing capital of the Caribbean, with the largest fleet of bareboats totaling over 700. If you don’t want to try your hand at sailing, there are plenty of ferries to whisk you from one island to the next for a day of exploring, if you can tear yourself from your luxurious villa!

The beaches of the BVI are carved in all shapes and sizes.  From the surf-worthy waves of Apple Bay, to the pristine white sands that blanket Elizabeth Beach, to the boater’s paradise, Deadman’s Bay, every beach has its special own magic to offer.  With endless skies and inviting water, you can plan a different beach adventure every day of your holiday.

The main islands are:
Scrub Island: Famed for its protected coves, nature trails and stunning scenery.
Tortola: The largest of the islands and the most lively, Cane Garden Bay is a popular beach destination and Sopers Hole is a vibrant centre of activity.
Virgin Gorda: stretches of uninhabited beaches and home to The Baths which is a wonder of exotic pools and grottos formed by giant boulders.
Jost Van Dyke: Excudes a lost in time feel to it where the beach is actually the main road, a popular and must do day excursion
Anegada: known as the ‘drowned island’ is remotely located to the north , go hungry and enjoy a succulent lobster feasts if you choose to visit!

DINING, BARS AND NIGHTLIFE

Infused with Caribbean flair and West Indian influences, authentic dining is a trademark of the BVI, with local dishes of Roti, Pate and Fungi, which is delight is made from cornmeal and okra, and is usually served with seafood dishes; very similar to Italian polenta
Anegada lobster is also widely available and the ultimate in BVI seafood delicacy and reputed to be the best in the Caribbean
