Ferragudo is a picture perfect fishing village in the Algarve. Located just under an hour from Faro airport, it’s a lovely location for coastline walks and days spent strolling the labyrinth of cobbled streets in the main town. It is the perfect choice for a villa holiday away from the hustle and bustle of some of the busier resorts in the Algarve.
Ferragudo is a beautiful fishing village located along the western coast of the Algarve, just across the river from Portimão. It is a lovely alternative to some of the larger resort towns, with a more authentic, peaceful feel. The town is characterised by whitewashed buildings, cobbled streets and a laid back feel, while still having access to beautiful beaches and delicious local cuisine.
Spend a day or two pottering around the town, the main square is the heart of everything, surrounded by traditional restaurants and cafés serving freshly caught seafood and local wines. You can also walk up to Igreja de Ferragudo, the hilltop church offering lovely views over the Arade River and coastline. Just beyond the village is Praia Grande, the best beach to spend time swimming, sunbathing and relaxing.
