The Best Time to Visit Paphos

Cyprus is a destination that sees pretty warm weather all the time, so there are benefits to visiting during any month of the year. However, if you have a particular kind of Paphos villa holiday in mind, it’s worth doing your research into the best time to visit so that you can ensure the best possible experience.

If you’re seeking high temperatures and unbeatable beach weather, any month between June and October is the best time to book a stay at one of our Paphos villas to rent. Enjoy average highs up to 30°C in August and July, with temperatures rarely dropping below 20°C and plenty of sunshine to top up your tan.

High temperatures also come with a high number of other visitors, so if you’re not too fussed about the heat and would prefer to see Paphos without the peak season crowds, April, May and November are great months to plan a trip. The weather will be mild and ideal for hiking or cycling, and you won’t have to queue for some of the city’s best attractions or worry about snagging a table at the most popular restaurants.

Paphos in the off-season between December and March will have less going on for tourists, but is the best way to make the most of deals on things like transport and accommodation, such as our luxury villas in Paphos. Temperatures at this time of year can reach up to 19°C and only around a third of the days each month will see any rain, so you’ll still have lots of opportunities to explore outdoors.

The Best Things to Do in Paphos

Historical sightseeing and outdoor activities are top of the agenda when it comes to things to do when you’re staying in holiday villas in Paphos. The city and surrounding area are filled with testaments to the history of the island, with highlights including the Byzantine castle on the waterfront and the Agios Neophytos Monastery further out from the city in the mountains.

One of the most popular things to do in Paphos is explore the city’s Old Town, which is set back from the seafront and is a buzzing hub of places to eat, drink and shop. During the day you can enjoy the charming mix of architectural styles, and in the evening it’s a great place to sample some traditional Cypriot cuisine before a leisurely walk back to one of our Paphos luxury villas.

If you’re planning a relaxing holiday in Paphos then spending time on the beach should definitely be on your to-do list. Alykes Beach is one of the most central options, whilst the most popular place to spend a hot and sunny day is Coral Bay Beach, which is actually north of the city but well worth the journey for around 6km of unspoiled sand and sea.

The Best Places to Visit in Paphos

One of the most popular places to visit when you’re staying in villas in Paphos is the Archaeological Park, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can explore the remains of several Roman villas with beautifully preserved mosaics, the Odeon Amphitheatre and a temple believed to have been devoted to Asklepieios.

A highlight of historic places to visit in Paphos is the Tomb of the Kings, named because of its size and splendour as opposed to referencing any royalty that were buried here. The seven tombs were built to resemble small houses in a style that has strong Egyptian influences, and one of them includes an underground atrium that has long since been robbed of the valuable items that would have once been displayed there.

On the coast of Paphos you’ll find another of the most famous places to visit; Aphrodite’s Rock. This geological formation is said to be the place where the Greek goddess of love and beauty was born from the sea foam, and legend has it that swimming around the rock three times can help with love and fertility.
