Maddox is a remarkable seven-bedroom beachfront property on Barbados’ sought-after West Coast, designed and once home to renowned architect Oliver Messel. Meticulously restored by Messel in the 1950s, the house is an important part of Barbados’ architectural heritage, combining Greek columns, coral stone and generous balconies with elegant interiors and beautifully maintained tropical gardens.

The spacious ground floor is designed for relaxed living and entertaining, with airy reception rooms opening onto the outdoor spaces. A gazebo overlooking the sea provides a wonderful spot for enjoying the sunset, while the poolside bar is ideal for evening drinks. The dining terrace is particularly atmospheric, with high ceilings, antique wrought-iron lighting and a bespoke 12-seater coral dining table. There is also a comfortable living room, games area and dedicated desk for those needing to work during their stay.

The expansive pool is surrounded by lush gardens and offers plenty of space for swimming and relaxing. From here, guests have direct access to the secluded beach, making it easy to enjoy a morning swim or a dip in the Caribbean Sea whenever you wish.

The seven en-suite bedrooms are arranged across the Main House and two guest cottages, offering privacy and flexibility for larger families or groups. The four bedrooms in the Main House include an elegant master suite with high ceilings, wooden floors and a private balcony overlooking the sea. Two further bedrooms can be configured as a family suite, while the remaining bedroom has twin beds. Guest Cottage One provides a peaceful garden retreat with a king-sized bed, while Guest Cottage Two houses two further king bedrooms, one with its own kitchenette.
