Greece is a beautiful country with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. With so much to do, it comes as no surprise that many tourists choose to visit here each year. Whether you’re looking to explore beaches, enjoy the cuisine, or uncover historical sites, there is something for all in Greece.
Most of our villas in Mainland Greece are located either near Athens or in the Peleponese region. This area is a captivating blend of ancient history, stunning coastlines, and picturesque villages.
In Athens, you can visit the iconic Acropolis, bustling Plaka district, and world-class museums that bring Greece’s rich past to life. Just beyond the capital, the Peloponnese offers a diverse landscape of mountainous terrain, charming seafront towns, and beautiful beaches. Highlights include the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, the ruins of Mycenae, and Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The region is also home to Nafplio, one of Greece’s most romantic coastal towns, and Monemvasia, a dramatic medieval fortress island. Whether exploring historic landmarks, relaxing in luxury villas, or discovering unspoiled nature, southern Greece provides an unforgettable experience.
Most of our villas are located within this region so exploration is easy. There are plenty of charming seaside villages to visit as well as Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games and its ancient stadium.
There are many ancient wonders to visit around Mainland Greece. Athens boasts the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and the Ancient Agora. In Delphi you can discover the legendary Oracle of Apollo and breathtaking mountain views and at Epidaurus you can experience the world-famous ancient theatre with perfect acoustics.
If you are not planning to stay on an island you can still visit as part of a day trip. Charter a private boat and cruise around the Saronic Gulf Islands; Hydra, Spetses, and Poros, or explore the Ionian Islands (Kythira, Elafonisos) for quieter, off-the-beaten-path beauty.
Spring and Autumn are lovely times to visit Mainland Greece, with temperatures ranging from 18–28°C. Days tend to be sunny and it is the perfect time to enjoy the area without the crowds of peak season.
Summer is very warm with temperatures between 30–38°C. This is the perfect time to spend time on the beach and enjoy the breeze as it will be very hot inland.
Winter has mild temperatures of 8–18°C and is a great time to explore landmarks around Athens, Delphi, and Mycenae with fewer tourists. It will be cooler and wetter, but still mild compared to northern Europe.
