The west coast is one of the most popular regions to stay in Mauritius. If you are based nearer the south in the Black River area then you have easy access to Le Morne and all the activities available there including scenic flights, dolphin watching and climbing/hiking. Heading inland, Chamarel and the Black River Gorges are a wonderful place for adventurers, with zip lining, mountain biking, hiking and waterfalls. You can also visit the seven coloured earths and the Chamarel Rhumerie for a taste of local rum.
For those based further north in Tamarin or Flic en Flac you have access to stunning beaches, as well as the chance to see dolphins in Tamarin Bay. This is a lovely experience, particularly if done by kayak at sunrise. We also recommend a trip to the capital, Port Louis, to experience the markets and street food.
