There are plenty of smaller islands within easy reach of Koh Samui including Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan which are perfect for snorkeling and diving in turquoise waters. Pig Island (Koh Madsum) where you can visit its famous pigs, and Koh Phangan, known for the Full Moon Party and pristine beaches.
During this time the weather should be warm and sunny with minimal rainfall, particularly from January onwards. Temperatures range from 26–32°C so it is perfect for beach days, snorkelling and exploring the island. Visitor numbers can be very high during this season, particularly in December and Easter Holidays.
The weather is still warm (27 - 33°C) with occasional showers but plenty of sunny days. This is a good part of Thailand to visit during the school summer holidays as other parts of the country are experiencing very wet weather. The island tends to feel less crowded in May & June.
This time of year is warm and humid with a high chance of rain and potentially rough seas. If you are happy to simply relax in your villa enjoying the warmth while it rains, some great deals can be found during this low season.
