Skiathos, a Greek island in the northwest Aegean Sea, is part of the Sporades archipelago. It’s best known for its beaches and buzzing, youth-driven nightlife scene. The action centres around Skiathos Town, where bars and restaurants spill onto sidewalks along the old harbour and Papadiamanti street, the main pedestrian thoroughfare.

Skiathos is a green island with forests and abundant water. There are over 60 beaches in Skiathos, all sandy including Koukounaries rated 7th best beach in the world and best in Greece. Also Banana Beach just around the headland is the island’s only Naturist Beach and is fantastic and very sheltered. Most of the beaches are easy to get to by bus or moped as they are mostly found on the only main road on the Island. There are all types of water sports available at most of the beaches and even a diving centre.

Walking in Skiathos is wonderful. The green and mountainous interior are worth all the effort. Check out Kounistras Monastery in the hills behind Troulos for a cooling mid day drink and simple food. A visit to Skiathos town is highly recommended – Skiathos Town is the place to eat and to be seen eating. There is an abundance of restaurants. Friday and Saturday nights are best after 10pm.
