Alonnisos is a hidden gem in the Sporades, known for its unspoiled nature, crystal-clear waters, and relaxed atmosphere. Here you will find the National Marine Park of Alonnisos, a sanctuary for the endangered Mediterranean monk seal. The island offers stunning secluded beaches, a charming Old Town with panoramic views, and excellent hiking trails through lush pine forests. Alonnisos is perfect for nature lovers, divers, and those seeking a peaceful getaway.
Patmos is a peaceful and spiritual island in the Dodecanese, known as the place where St John wrote the Book of Revelation. Visiting the Monastery of St John the Theologian, a UNESCO site overlooking the island, is the main attraction here. The charming Old Town has whitewashed houses, narrow alleys, and breathtaking sea views. Patmos also has several secluded beaches, such as Psili Ammos and Agriolivadi, perfect for relaxation.
Kea (Tzia) is a charming Cycladic island known for its authentic Greek atmosphere, lush landscapes, and ancient ruins. The island has some beautiful beaches such as Koundouros and Otzias, scenic hiking trails, and the famous Stone Lion of Kea, a mysterious ancient sculpture. The pretty main town, Ioulida, has whitewashed houses, cozy tavernas, and is a great place to watch the sunset.
Antiparos is a small, laid-back island in the Cyclades, known for its relaxed atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and charming Old Town. Easily accessible from Paros by ferry, it has some stunning beaches like Soros, Faneromeni, and hidden coves ideal for swimming. A highlight of the island is the Antiparos Cave, with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The main Old Town has cute whitewashed alleys, cozy tavernas, and a lively yet chill nightlife.
Serifos is a rugged island in the Cyclades, known for its wild landscapes, stunning beaches, and authentic Greek charm. Its main town is a picture-perfect hilltop village with whitewashed houses, narrow alleys, and beautiful views over the Aegean. The island has pristine beaches like Livadakia, Ganema, and Psili Ammos, which are ideal for relaxation and swimming. Serifos offers a laid-back vibe, hiking trails, and traditional tavernas serving delicious local cuisine.
Patmos is often referred to as the ‘Holy Island’ due to its religious significance. Visitors can discover the UNESCO-listed monastery, an iconic religious site towering over the old town, where Saint John is believed to have written the Book of Revelation. The monastery boasts impressive architecture, medieval frescos and an extensive library with ancient manuscripts.
On Antiparos you can explore the Antiparos Cave. Descending over 400 steps into the ground, the cave is famous for its massive stalactites and stalagmites, with the oldest formations dating back 45 million years, along with ancient inscriptions from King Otto of Greece (1673) inside.
On Alonnisos you can take a boat trip to the National Marine Park, the largest marine protected area in Europe. It is home to one of the world's most endangered marine animals, the Mediterranean monk seal as well as several stunning secluded islands. It is also the perfect place to enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving with a plethora of underwater caves, reefs and wrecks.
During these months the weather is warm (25-35°C) and sunny. As a general rule most islands will be busy at this time due to school holidays and there will be festivals and plenty of activities available.
The weather remains pleasant, with slightly cooler temperatures in comparison to summer (18-28°C), but still plenty of sunshine and blue skies. Islands will often be much quieter during this time, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the islands without the hustle and bustle of tourist crowds.
The weather during these months is much cooler, ranging from 10-15°C. There are very few tourists so you will enjoy a peaceful escape, however many bars, restaurants and hotels will be closed for the season.
