The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful stretch of Italy’s southern coastline, known for its dramatic cliffs, pastel-colored villages, and crystal-clear waters. There are plenty of delightful towns to explore including Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Atrani. Whether you are renting a car or have a private driver, winding along the coast road is a beautiful way to experience the area. We have a selection of hand picked luxury villas across the region with something to suit every visitor. From family friendly homes, to romantic couples retreats, we have a villa that will be perfect for your next holiday.
There is plenty to do in this stunning region. If you are looking for a beach to relax on, then there are plenty to choose from, some of our favourites include Spiaggia di Marina Grande and Fornillo Beach in Positano, and Fiordo di Furore which is a tiny beach tucked inside a dramatic fjord.
If you would rather be out on the water then this is also the perfect place. A private charter boat can take you across to Capri and the Blue Grotto, or sail along the coast and discover hidden coves and grottos including the magical Emerald Grotto. For the outdoors types, there are some lovely hiking trails as well as beautiful villas and gardens to visit along the way. If you are keen to explore the history and culture of the area, a visit to the Amalfi Cathedral (Duomo di Sant’Andrea) and the paper museum, where you can learn about the ancient tradition, are a must.
Of course no trip to Italy would be complete without trying some of the amazing produce and cuisine. Amalfi is famous for its lemons, which make the delightful tipple Limoncello. There are also several wineries to visit as well as Michelin star restaurants to enjoy. Sampling the local fresh seafood and hand made pasta scialatielli alle vongole is also a must.
It is well worth chartering a boat to visit Capri as it is a stunning island famous for luxury and natural beauty. You can explore the Blue Grotto, where sunlight creates a magical blue glow inside the cave, and ride the Monte Solaro Chairlift for incredible views of the island.
The best way to see the coast is definitely from the sea. Stop at hidden sea caves, secluded beaches, and secret grottoes along the way. You can also experience the Emerald Grotto (Grotta dello Smeraldo) near Conca dei Marini, famous for its glowing green water.
This is one of Italy’s most scenic hikes, offering panoramic views of the coastline. The trail runs from Bomerano to Nocelle and is about 2-3 hours and is a moderate difficulty level. Finish in Positano and reward yourself with a seaside Aperol Spritz!
The coastline has several charming and well known towns to visit. Positano, probably the most famous, has pastel-colored houses, chic boutiques, and Spiaggia Grande Beach. Amalfi is the historic heart of the coast, home to the stunning Amalfi Cathedral and lively piazzas. Ravello is a peaceful hilltop town with breathtaking views, gardens and cultural sites like Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo.
Italy is of course famous for its cuisine and here you can sample fresh seafood and handmade pasta, as well as the famous Amalfi lemons. There are several Michelin star restaurants to visit as well as local family run wineries and lemon groves where you can try Limoncello.
If you are planning to rent a car while you are here, then driving along the Amalfi Coast Road is a must. It is one of the most beautiful, and thrilling, coastal roads in the world. A driver can also be hired for a stress free experience!
This time of year is warm and sunny with temperatures of 26-32°C. It is ideal for sunbathing and swimming and enjoying boat trips and local festivals. Crowds will be at their highest during this time.
Spring and Autumn are a really nice time to visit the Amalfi Coast, with temperatures around 18-26°C. This is a great time for sightseeing without the large crowds. Beaches can still be enjoyed particularly in September when the sea will still be warm.
Winter is mild (10-18°C) but can be rainy. If you are looking for a quiet escape and time to enjoy scenic drives around the coast then this is a great time to visit, however many restaurants and beach clubs will be closed for the season.
