A Trip to Mauritius: Part 1

I recently enjoyed a holiday to Mauritius with a good friend but took some time out of my busy schedule of laying on the beach to visit the properties that we feature, and boy was I impressed! We also hired a car and explored as much of the island as possible.

There is so much to cover that I'm going to write this blog in 3 parts, so here goes the first!

As a business that sells luxury holidays, we choose our local transfer partners very carefully for each of the destinations we feature, and our providers in Mauritius are Sega Tours. On arrival at the airport, all you need to do is make your way to their desk where you will be welcomed by friendly staff and your transport (complete with our logo!) to whisk you to your resort. Our driver chatted to us answering our many questions about the destination (he was literally a walking encyclopedia of the destination!) . We know our clients are in safe hands with this professional company.

Our first day of site visits started on the south west coast of the island working our way up north. We began at Anahita the Resort, home to the 7km long world famous golf course. This impressive property gives a residential style feel with a range of suites and gorgeous standalone pool villas (pic below), ideal for couples or families. There is a lovely shopping area forming the central part of the property with a range of outlets, including the 'Sugar and Savour' delicatessen with delicious looking homemade pastries and cakes. There are two restaurants situated close to the sprawling beach and the cool VU bar, a fabulous spot for a pre or post dinner cocktail. The property is currently building a brand new spa so we are looking forward to more details of this once it opens.

A stone’s throw away from Anahita the Resort is the Four Seasons at Anahita, which sits on and shares the same golf course, and a shuttle runs between the two properties allowing guests access to both resorts. Our visit around the resort included their amazing kids club, The Hobbit Village, one of the best we have ever seen. We loved the accommodations here, from the sanctuary pool & beach villas to the grand residences for maximum space and privacy. The resort offers that residential feel but with all the many facilities on hand from the spa, gym, restaurants, the over water O-Bar, several pools (pic below) and beaches. You will be hard pressed to leave your villa but with some much on offer to enjoy, you will surely not be bored!

Our next stop, also close by was the Shangri-la Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, there may be 200 rooms at this luxury property, but we viewed one of their ultra-exclusive Beach Villas (of which there are only three). Totally private with their own private entrance and driveway, the villas are absolutely breathtaking, making it easy to see why they have hosted many celebrities and royalty. With 3 ultra-luxurious bedrooms, an expansive living and dining area opens onto a lap pool and private manicured beach access (pic below) . With 24 hour butler service, an electric car and easy access to the many facilities of the resort, these villas are possibly the most exclusive on the island. The three resorts also offer their own boat shuttles (see main pic) across to Ile aux Cerfs, a picture perfect island which is home to the Bernahrd Langer championship course, on the bucket list of most serious golfers. Even as a non-golfer, I couldn't help but be blown away by the beauty of this course and I was furiously sending photos home to my dad, a keen golfer. Most holes offer 360 degree views of the ocean and the clubhouse has a lovely bar and restaurant. For non-golfers, there are several beaches to relax on, beach bars & restaurants and watersports to enjoy, making the island a great day out for all!
