Spilaio, meaning ‘cave’ is a spellbinding property that as the name suggests is a typical Santorinian cave dwelling, with no shortage of character and intrigue, a perfect choice for those who want those spectacular views as well as the curved cave-style architecture for which the island is known.
Stepping inside your own cave house you will be immediately struck by the cute arched doorways, curved ceilings and whitewashed walls that almost symbolise traditional island life on Santorini, particularly as the building was once a working bakery in a previous life! Spilaio actually comprises two separate cave houses with one on each level; an upper and lower house that together make it a great choice for a group of two couples who each want their own privacy and space yet can have a shared terrace space to enjoy the island sunsets and panoramic views. Alternatively, since the houses may be booked independently you may wish to enquire about booking either the upper or lower space as a couple.
The upper house at Spilaio contains a master bedroom complete with en-suite bathroom and a second bedroom that contains twin banquette style beds, again with an en-suite in addition to a private balcony with those unmissable volcano views. Heading down to to the lower house, you will find a double bedroom with a gorgeous en-suite bathroom. Whilst this lower space is ideally suited to two guests, there is a banquette style couch that would make it possible for extra guests to stay, and there is an additional second bathroom just off the communal lounge area.
The private sun-kissed terrace comes with an outdoor Jacuzzi to fully maximise those views. Your location is a short walk from the pretty village of Imerovigli and you are a pleasant walking distance from the vibrant capital town of Fira, just 2 kilometres away, where you can find restaurants, bars, shops and plenty of attractions to explore.
