Sri Lanka is a breathtaking island that offers a perfect blend of luxury, adventure, and cultural richness, making it an ideal destination for a villa holiday. With a history expanding over 3000 years, it has some of the world's most ancient cities including Polonnaruwa and Digamadulla. Of all the ancient cities of Lanka, the most famed and most exquisite is the Kingdom of Anuradhapura. Sri Lanka’s third and the longest serving capital and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world is also one of the most sacred cities of World Buddhists.
For those looking to relax by the beach, Sri Lanka’s southern coastline boasts wonderful destinations such as Galle, Mirissa, and Bentota, where turquoise waters, soft sands, and swaying palms create the perfect tropical retreat. Many of our luxury villas offer direct beach access, private pools, and a team of staff ready to cater to your every need. Meanwhile, those looking for adventure and culture can explore the island’s Cultural Triangle, home to ancient wonders like Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple.
Beyond its natural beauty, Sri Lanka is renowned for its wildlife and outdoor experiences. Guests staying in luxury villas near Yala or Udawalawe National Park can embark on unforgettable safaris, spotting leopards, elephants, and exotic birdlife in their natural habitat. For a more tranquil escape, the misty tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya and Ella provide a peaceful backdrop, where guests can stay in beautifully restored colonial-style villas while enjoying the island’s famous Ceylon tea. Whether you are looking for beachfront relaxation, cultural exploration, or thrilling wildlife adventures, a villa holiday in Sri Lanka offers an experience like no other.

Sri Lanka boasts many beautiful beaches around the teardrop shaped island. Some of the best include Mirissa which is perfect for whale watching, surfing, and sunset cocktails, Unawatuna, a lively beach town near Galle with golden sand and beachfront cafés, Arugam Bay, a top destination for surfing, especially between May and September, and Pasikuda & Nilaveli which are ideal for calm waters, snorkelling, and diving on the east coast.
Sri Lanka has many national parks where it is possible to spot animals in their natural habitat. Our favorites include Minneriya National Park (near Sigiriya) where, if you visit between July and September, you will see "The Gathering," where hundreds of elephants gather by the reservoir. Yala National Park where you can spot leopards, elephants, and sloth bears in one of the best wildlife reserves in Asia, and Udawalawe National Park which is famous for its large elephant herds.
This is the dry season for the Cultural Triangle and South Coast, including popular destinations like Colombo, Galle, Bentota, Hill & Tea Country (Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella), Mirissa, and Yala National Park. It is ideal for beach holidays, wildlife safaris (less water means better wildlife spotting), and exploring historic sites like Sigiriya. December to March is also great for whale watching in Mirissa.
At this time of year the east coast (Trincomalee, Pasikuda, Arugam Bay) and northern regions (Jaffna) experience dry, sunny weather. It is perfect for surfing in Arugam Bay and relaxing on quiet beaches like Nilaveli.
This is monsoon season and is best avoided. There is unpredictable, heavy rainfall across the whole country.
