Orlando, a city in central Florida, is home to more than a dozen theme parks including Walt Disney World, comprising 4 parks and 2 water parks, Universal Studios with 3 parks and 1 water park, and SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. It is little wonder Orlando has become a tourist mecca for visitors from all over the world. We offer villas close to the theme parks, allowing you nearby accommodations offering some space and sanctuary from the excitement and hustle and bustle of the destination
Orlando is of course best known as the home of theme parks, along with many other attractions around the area including International Drive, Golf Courses and trips to the coast and Cape Canaveral.
Walt Disney World is probably the most famous and original collection of theme parks in Orlando. With four main parks, EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, as well as two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, you could easily spend all your time visiting these parks alone. During the year there are many festivals to experience including EPCOT’s Food & Wine, Flower & Garden, and Magic Kingdom’s Halloween and Christmas parties.
Universal Studios now has three main parks, with the original Studios, Islands of Adventure, and newly opened Epic Universe, as well as Volcano Bay water park. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter straddles all three of the parks, linking them together. Halloween Horror nights is a popular evening activity but is most suited to teens and up.
There are many other smaller parks and attractions in the area including SeaWorld & Discovery Cove, Dollywood and Busch Gardens. There are also several golf courses (both mini and full size!) to enjoy. There is a huge selection of restaurants both in and out of the parks with areas like City Walk and Disney Springs being free to enter and a great place to spend the evening.
Located just an hour outside Orlando, you can see real rockets, meet astronauts, and even watch a rocket launch. This is a must for anyone interested in space exploration.
You do not have to travel all the way down to the main Everglades area (4 hours south of Orlando) to experience an airboat tour. There are areas such as Boggy Creek that are an hour south of the parks where you can see alligators, eagles, and wild Florida nature on a thrilling airboat ride.
There are probably more theme parks in Orlando than you will be able to visit in one holiday. We recommend picking the ones that you are most interested in visiting and are suitable for the age of travelers. It can be possible to park hop when parks are quieter, in order to tick off two in a day.
Spring and Autumn can be a great time to visit as the crowds can be a little lower. The weather is still warm, ranging from 16-30°C and Autumn does still have the possibility of hurricanes, particularly in September. There are lots of events running at the parks including Epcot’s Food & Wine, Flower & Garden, and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights.
Summer in Orlando is very popular due to the school holidays however the weather can be extremely hot and humid (24-35°C). Showers are likely in the afternoon and crowds will be at the peak with very long queues at the parks.
Temperatures in winter are still pleasant, ranging from 10-24°C. The parks will be decked out in their holiday decorations and have a magical atmosphere. Crowds will be lower around mid January to February.
