The British Virgin Islands offer the perfect escape for those looking for a luxury villa holiday in the Caribbean. With its beautiful white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and world-class sailing, BVI is perfect for both relaxation and adventure. A private villa provides the ultimate getaway, whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or a family-friendly villa with ocean views and activities for the whole family.
Known as “the land that time forgot,” the British Virgin Islands remains an undeveloped haven for natural treasures; you won’t find high-rise hotels, casinos or crowds here! It may take a little more effort to get there from the UK, but trust us, it’s worth the journey! Mystical, lush and inspiring with 60 storied islands, the BVI lures adventurers, romantics and escapists with verdant hillsides covered in ancient mahogany trees and cacti, pristine beaches kissed by technicolor tides, a colourful aquarium of the world’s most diverse sea life, extensive coral reefs responsible for claiming renowned wrecks, and vast outbacks and wildlife sanctuaries sheltering endangered species.
Situated between the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the shimmering Caribbean Sea, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) lie just east of Puerto Rico. To the southwest, the United States Virgin Islands serve as their closest neighbour. The BVI is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, world-class sailing, and as the home of Necker Island, Sir Richard Branson’s exclusive private retreat.
The islands are naturally arranged around the Sir Francis Drake Channel, forming a distinct and picturesque archipelago. Tortola, the largest island, serves as the backbone of the channel, while Virgin Gorda extends to the east, shaping the region’s striking coastal landscape. To the west, Jost Van Dyke offers a laid-back charm, while the coral island of Anegada sits remotely in the Atlantic to the north. Scattered throughout the southern waters, a collection of smaller islands, including the luxurious Scrub Island, add to the BVI’s allure, making this destination a haven for those seeking serenity, adventure, and refined island living.
The many coves and bays of the BVI’s offer breathtaking coral reefs just below the surface and at deep depths for snorkelers and divers of all levels. There are world class sailing conditions and the destination is known as the sailing capital of the Caribbean, with the largest fleet of bareboats totalling over 700. If you don’t want to try your hand at sailing, there are plenty of ferries to whisk you from one island to the next for a day of exploring, if you can tear yourself from your luxurious villa!
The beaches of the BVI are carved in all shapes and sizes. From the surf-worthy waves of Apple Bay, to the pristine white sands that blanket Elizabeth Beach, to the boater’s paradise, Deadman’s Bay, every beach has its own special magic to offer. With endless skies and inviting water, you can plan a different beach adventure every day of your holiday.
