Nelson Gay

Built in the finest colonial style, Nelson Gay is an elegant coral stone Palladian mansion set in a lush 2-acre estate on Barbados’ West Coast, discreetly screened by its own tropical gardens for total privacy. The garden gate opens directly onto a stunning crescent of perfect coral sand on Cobbler’s Cove beach, where the clear, sheltered water allows for safe swimming and is ideal for all water sports. There is also a coral reef with excellent snorkelling.

Built in the ‘60s for a US Ambassador and friend of President F.D. Roosevelt, the property has been kept up to date with modern amenities and features many antiques and works of art, including an Erté mural and a fine collection of Haitian paintings. Built all on one level, Nelson Gay is ideal and safe for children, and the 50’ pool can be fenced off if required.

The many family-friendly features include a veritable treasure-trove of toys, PS3, games, foosball and a vast collection of about 400 DVD’s. In addition, there are three charming chattel houses and a guest cottage, all with en suite bathrooms .

At the far end of the garden is an octagonal gazebo with wet bar and fridge, able to seat up to 14 – a wonderful place for sunset cocktails and leisurely meals cooled by the ocean breeze.  A dining table on the partly covered terrace can seat up to 20, while the formal dining area can accommodate 12 at its Oliver Messel designed table, with French antique chairs and a large Messell mirror. The well-trained and friendly staff will help you to plan your meals, shop, cook, serve, do your laundry, and make your Barbados holiday truly relaxing, stress-free and unforgettable.

The main houes also includes a media room that can be converted into a bedroom with 2 single beds and has a shared bathroom with Master bedroom 2 (this set up is great for children)

This villa is available as a  rental for weddings and events.

The villa rents as a 5 bedroom option ( the main house plus guest cottage) or up to 9 bedrooms with the additional chattel house cottages included in the overall rental.  Note – the chattel houses are not rented seperately or independently to the main house. Guests will always have exclusive access to the property and its grounds.
